Hi, I’m Jen.

I’m the one growing all these flowers, right here in Montgomery.

MY STORY

I’ve loved plants and flowers for as long as I can remember.

Growing up, I loved going to plant nurseries with my mom. My dad always had a spring and fall vegetable garden, and I had to be a part of that even though back then I saw it as mostly a chore. But having yellow summer squash almost every night of the week during the summer was worth all of it.

When I grew up, talking about seeds, gardening, and growing was a way I connected with my dad. Some of my favorite family memories are the simple ones— being outside (all the time!), watching things grow, and picking strawberries together at King’s Orchard in Plantersville, TX back in the 90’s.

For years, I dreamed about having a little place of my own where people could come enjoy flowers and all the good things that I’d grow. I didn't really know what that would look like, or that growing specialty cut flowers could become my business.

After my dad passed away unexpectedly in 2022, I started looking at life a little differently. I was approaching a milestone birthday, and I kept coming back to the things I'd always loved. Being outside. Growing something with my own hands. Sharing it with other people.

That's how Pretty Wild Farm began.

Today I grow specialty cut flowers here in Montgomery, four miles from Montgomery Farmers Market. I do the planting, tending, cutting, and arranging myself. Some days it's hard work, and the Texas weather certainly keeps things interesting. But I love it.

One of my favorite things is watching someone discover a flower they've never seen before. They'll ask what it is, and next thing you know we're both standing there admiring it. I love getting to tell them I grew it right down the road.

WHY LOCAL MATTERS

You should know where your flowers come from. Flowers are such a simple pleasure, but there’s something really special about knowing the person who grew them.

Mine are grown seasonally, with thoughtful practices that care for the soil and without synthetic fertilizers and harmful pesticides. I choose flowers for their beauty, their resilience to our local climate, and for the joy of growing them— not because they’ll look like the flowers you can convenience order and shop at the grocery store.

When you bring a bouquet home from Pretty Wild Farm, you’re bringing home something that grew in our community, tended by someone who genuinely loves doing this.

Bursting with color in late winter and very early spring, these are insanely special crops. Pretty Wild Farm grows luxury blooms like anemone and ranunculus you typically only see at weddings and events.

A LITTLE DREAM THAT’S STILL GROWING

I still dream of a small farm where people can come experience what's growing—flowers, berries, vegetables, and other beautiful, useful things from the land. For now, I'm grateful to share a little piece of that dream at our local farmers market.

THERE’S ALWAYS SOMETHING GROWING AROUND HERE

Follow along for seasonal flowers, little glimpses of our micro-farm life, and first notice of what’s blooming.

Thanks for being here, for asking about the flowers, and for supporting something grown close to home. I hope to see you at market sometime.
